I dont understand your reasons for working, Im fine with either choice to work or stay home, but mathematically/economically it would seem to make the most sense not to have a full-time nanny if you are also home full-time. If you do, because you spend your days at the gym, lunching and shopping, theres probably ways there to cut expenses.

well the details put a different spin on it, I hate cleaning, so if you can bring in enough income to cover that, and do work that fullfills you and spend quality time with your daughter that fulfills you both, go for it.
Its up to you and what you and your family think is best. Your going to have alot of people telling you to stay home if you dont have to work and your going to have alot of people who are going to tell you to work….But at the end of the day its your choice on if you want to, and it should be something that you and your husband sit down and talk about. However if you take care of the child all day and let the nanny go, your going to save alot of money. Why do you have a nanny if you stay at home anyway?
I really dont get why you need a nanny…..what she looks after your kid when you online or out shopping……you should have titled this question “Lazy Mom” get up!
there is no way i could afford a nanny, and we live off one income as well, honestly…why are you asking this question, if money is the issue for you going back to work then you should not have a nanny, and not meaning to be rude but are you going back to work so you can afford the nanny?
You don’t say what type of job you will be looking for, but if it were me, I would at least make sure your resume is up-to-date, start researching postions, etc. now. It may take you a while to actually land a job depending on your profession or what you plan on doing. Since you have a nanny right now, she would be available to watch your daughter if you need to go on an interview, etc. If you end up getting a job before the 4 months, that’s great! Better to have the time to look for something you really want then have to take any old thing.
sounds like you want to work and why not? you do not have to give an excuse to your husband or feel like a bad mother.I think you need to work out your life.I don’t get why you have a nanny if you are not currently working? But if you choose to work now go for it. Even if it ispart time at the momment. You need to find an occupation you enjoy.
No harm in starting your job search now; if your husband is requesting you wait four months before beginning your job, at least you have this time frame to be really selective about what you’d like to do instead of accepting the first offer that lands in your lap.
PS: And ignore these sour grapes for taking you to task for having a full day nanny and questioning your motives (ie. you are thinking of working just so you can afford her). I’m sure it’s a lot more than that and I applaud your willingness to contribute to the family income.

you have a nanny? is she watching the kid while you’re online?
Why do you need a nanny if you stay at home? Fire the nanny and take care of the kid yourself. That should bring in alot of extra income right there.
