i am a stay at home mom and i usually just stay at home with my son, he is only 3 months old so we dont really go anywhere, every now and then we have to go grocery shopping or something outside of the house but my day consists of waking up, feeding the baby 5-6 times daily, laundry, dishes, cook dinner, change 7-9 diapers a day, play with my son, pretty much i just take care of the baby and the house it really is pretty boring
A stay at home moms’ work is never done… laundry, housework, cooking, packing work and school lunches, bathing kids, putting them to bed, taking out the dog, etc…..
My mom was a stay at home mom when I was growing up. She was a great support for all of her kids. She couldn’t have dreamed of a better job then raising her kids full time. She always made our lunches, was able to attend all our extra curricular activities, and was always there to talk to. She knew exactly what was going on in our lives which is vital. Many parents don’t have communication with their children, and that could lead to some trouble with the kids. I also know there are some really great mom’s that work out of the home. My husband’s mom has to do this. It’s like working two full time jobs. She has her job outside the home, and comes home, and teaches her kids how to work, cook, and supports them in all their interests.
I am a stay-at-home mom so here is my schedule. My children are 9 5 3 and 2.
6am: Wake up. See husband off to work. Wake up the oldest and get him in the shower.
6:30am:Start the coffe pot. Let the dog out.
7am: Wake up the other kids if they are not already awake. Start breakfast.
7:30am: Send the oldest out the door for the bus.
8am:Get the others dressed. If we have errands or shopping, we get started.
8:30-11:30am: Run errands or shopping if needs to be done. If not then it is time to do housework, play with the kids, break up the fights etc..
11:30: Lunch
12:30-2:30: Nap time (hopefully) This is my personal time. Take a shower, catch up on things that need to be done or just things I want to do
2:30-3:30: TV time for the kids
3:30-???: This is when the oldest gets home. Time for chores and homework. Everyone has chores (even the 2 yr old) As much time as needed to pick up toys and do homework.
5:30: Start Dinner
6pm-7pm: Dinner time and clean up from dinner
7pm:Bath time
7:30pm-8pm:Story or tv time
8pm: BED TIME!!! Husband gets home from work.
9pm: all the kids are usually asleep by this time. Personal time til I go to bed.
This is not an exact shedule. it varies slightly from day to day. Also there is a lot not mentioned like hugs, laughs, discipline, teaching, learning (yes I learn things everyday)There are also many other things that change the schedule;little league, school programs, husbands days off, etc…
I think that a stay at home mom also has a job and a lot of them. She contributes just as much, if not more to the house as the “bread winner” does.
1, she’s the cook…(most of the time)
2, she’s the babysitter
3, she’s the gardner
4, she’s the maid
5, she’s the laundry person
6, she’s the car wash
7, maybe even the banker
It’s a 24/7 job…
The point is, she may not be making money, but she sure is saving it. All those careers listed above, would add up to a lot of money per hour!
Staying at home with your children is rewarding but challenging i decided to stay home full time because i didn’t want anyone else to raise my children, since then i haven’t had a day off there’s always mouths to be fed, laundry to be done and something to clean, but of course there’s also hugs and tickle sessions. Its the hardest job but definitely the most rewarding.
